About the Strategic Insight Institute
The Strategic Insight Institute is an independent policy research institute covering transatlantic relations, technology governance, economic statecraft, and security. It actively publishes external contributors and is one of the more approachable venues for early-career researchers.
What we publish
Four recurring research clusters:
- Technology and AI governance — platform rules, semiconductor supply chains, and the institutions that shape emerging technology.
- Transatlantic security — alliance policy, maritime chokepoints, and defense cooperation.
- International economics and sanctions — de-risking versus decoupling, economic statecraft, and enforcement.
- Democratic resilience — information integrity and the defenses of open societies.
Formats are reports and briefings. Briefings run 800-1,500 words; full reports run 2,000-4,000 words. Not sure your idea is ready? A pitch of 150-200 words is welcome before a full draft.
What editors look for
- A clear argument in the first two paragraphs, before any background.
- Evidence over adjectives: specific data points, dates, and named programs.
- A transatlantic angle, even when the topic is regional.
- Policy recommendations that a practitioner could act on.
